FEV1 and FEVC

Spirometry testing is used to examine a patient's lung function, this helps diagnose any obstructive disorders like COPD, Ashma or other lung diseases. Identifying these comorbidities preoperatively helps alleviate any potential negative postoperative pulmonary complications. (Oh et al., 2018)

This test includes a Forced expiratory volume over 1 minute test (FEV1) and a Forced expiratory vital  capacity test (FEVC) looking at how much air you can expel over 1 minute and the peak in the expiration of air.
